In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"Good day. My name is Tatiana. I am asking you for help for my daughter, Kira. Kira has cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, subluxation of the hip joints and epilepsy. The diagnosis was established at 11 months. Due to the difficult birth, Kira was born without any signs of life. 9 days in ICU. Kira is now 6 years old and she still cannot take care of herself, doesn't walk on her own and can eat only with the help of adults. Unfortunately, Kira and I live without her father, he passed away.
But I have no right to feel sorry for myself, all I want is for my child to be healthy.
Finances are not enough for everything. First of all, it's diapers, wet wipes, and washing powder. Also needed is the anticonvulsant, Topamax. Our pension is enough only for a meager existence in our country.
I don't know where to turn, which door to knock on! I'm just begging you for help, which we are no longer able to get."
Can you help us purchase medicines and diapers for Kira for the next 3 months?
