In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"Pregnancy proceeded without problems, an emergency caesarean was performed during childbirth. A son was born with a weight of 4,630 and a height of 58, apgar 9, healthy. On the 3rd day, problems started. The father immediately abandoned the child, but my mother supported me and the two of us take care of my son. At first it was very difficult, at 5 months Yaroslav had epilepsy, 15 seizures a day, every day was very difficult. This went on for several years. At the age of 8, I managed to find the 2nd anticonvulsant drug and remove severe seizures. Now they happen, but they are light, now my son has begun to develop. He does not walk, does not sit and speak on his own, but he knows how to show what he needs, for example, to eat."
Yaroslav is in need of formula to help him gain weight and also diapers. Can you help us provide him with these for the next three months?
