After Vira was born, she immediately began to fight for her life.
Because the umbilical cord wrapped around the girl's neck prevented her from breathing, newborn Vira had no reflexes.
She was diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic damage of the central nervous system, hydrocephalus syndrome, congenital heart defects, and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (inborn error of cholesterol synthesis).
Vira's parents - devoted and responsible people - care about their child's health and development and make every effort to improve her condition.
Thanks to the parents' perseverance, Vira's body and immune system strengthened.
But unfortunately, during the battle of Hostomel in March 2022, Vira's family could not leave the city immediately and stayed home under shelling.
After experiencing stress and fear, Vira's state worsened. Now she needs an expensive rehabilitation therapy course to regain lost skills and develop new ones.
Translated from Ukrainian, Vira means faith. The girl's family has strong faith in us together helping their daughter undergo a much-needed rehabilitation course.
Can you please make a gift toward Vira's therapy?
Maya's Hope work in Ukraine has not stopped for a moment since the beginning of the war. We have already supported over 7000 families who requested financial and humanitarian assistance and continue to carry on our important mission of serving children in need.
After almost 6 months of the war, the nature of requests for help has changed. Most of them are still based on the loss of regular full-time earnings and the inability to find a new source of income. But the priorities of children's needs have changed, and developmental therapy and rehabilitation courses have become the foreground again.
Maya’s Hope helps disadvantaged children living in poverty and helps provide hope by instilling value and purpose in each child. www.mayashope.org
