Can you imagine living on less than $2 a day? It’s pretty difficult to find a decent meal (let alone any meal) with just that. Yet, almost half of the population in the Philippines lives on less.
Living at this poverty level is even more challenging when a family has children with special needs. Often, a mother is faced with an impossible choice – take care of her special needs child and not be able to work and provide for her family, or get a job and leave a child with a disability alone or hand them to the state care.
Maya’s Hope works to assist in keeping children with their families where they belong and relieve some of the burdens on their courageous parents who chose to raise their children in love and care despite all hardships.
