Maya's Hope: Insulin Syringes, Test Strips, Diapers and Nutrition for a Girl with Angelman Syndrome and Diabetes

In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.

"My pregnancy was desired and planned, all examinations and tests are all as expected, only one doctor suspected that something was wrong with the child and advised me to contact the medical genetic center. There they assured us that everything was in order and sent us home. Our daughter was born on time, without any problems, she immediately screamed, breathed on her own, but it immediately became clear that she was different from other children. The doctor said that the child has something genetic. Only at the age of 1.5 was she diagnosed with Angelman's syndrome. The disease is rare. Yana lags behind in development, especially mental. She started walking at 2.5 years old, but due to the fact that the legs do not unbend completely, I quickly get tired and we still use the stroller, coordination is also impaired.  Many concomitant diseases, epilepsy diagnosed at the age of 3.  At the age of 6, it was found that the ductus arteriosus in the heart, PDA did not close. But for now we are just observing. It is quite possible that surgery will be needed in the future. And after another half a year, type 1 diabetes mellitus was revealed.  Many people are afraid of this diagnosis, but in fact, with the right approach, diabetes is a way of life.  Yana adheres to the appropriate diet, the most important thing is sugar control, for this she needs test strips for a glucometer, insulin syringes that we have to buy ourselves.  I do not work because  the child needs constant care and supervision.  Yana does not serve herself, does not ask to go to the toilet, she needs diapers, there are also problems with food, she does not chew, all food is liquid, puree, I ask you to help with baby food, such as cereals and baby purees. Thank you so much!"

Can you help us purchase insulin syringes, test strips, diapers and nutrition for Yana?
