In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"My son Daniel, has a rare genetic disease - Glutaric acidemia type 1 (only 3 children in Ukraine with such a diagnosis), hyperkenetic syndrome. He is 4 years old, he does not sit alone, does not speak, we only learn to keep our heads up. He is on a low-protein and gluten-free diet, a special therapeutic diet, we constantly undergo examinations by doctors, we pass tests, we undergo a course of drug treatment, we do a speech therapy, exercise therapy and more. This is what Daniel needs in order to start the work of the brain, teach him to correctly feel his body and control it. Danya is a very positive boy, we love him very much and do everything to put him on his feet. But it is very difficult for us. We don't have enough money. Therefore we ask your help. Thank you.
