In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Meet Dasha and her family! Papa, Anton, was a window installer. He fell 6 stories, fracturing his spine. As a result he has limited movement in his lower body and uses a wheelchair for mobility. Mama, Katya, has osteogenesis imperfecta (also known as brittle bone disease). They met at a rehabilitation center and fell in love. Both parents are studying at university in Kyiv, Anton also works there part-time. Their little miracle baby, Dasha, is 16 months old. Maya's Hope has been supporting them for almost a year and baby Dasha is thriving!
We want to continue to support this beautiful little family. We are raising funds to provide Dasha with formula, nutrition and diapers for the next 3 months. This will be a huge help to her family! Want to help?
Maya’s Hope helps disadvantaged children living in poverty and helps provide hope by instilling value and purpose in each child. We are celebrating 10 years of bringing hope to children around the world.
