In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"Nastya is a sweet girl who has Down syndrome, now she is 14 years old. Nastya loves to be in the company of children, she is friendly and smiling. Favorite pastime - watching cartoons.
In April of this year, the whole family fell ill with Covid-19. The disease proceeded like a common cold, without any peculiarities. But a week later, Nastya developed weakness in her legs and panic attacks. The girl was admitted to the hospital. The disease became severe, the lungs were affected by 80%. For thirty days Nastya was under a ventilator. Only in mid-June did the girl return home to recover.
Two weeks later, fever and cough reappeared. Nastya was hospitalized again with a diagnosis of pneumonia. Now Nastia's condition is grave. The weakness in the legs has not gone away since April, so the girl cannot walk.
She has been prescribed strong antibiotics and a drug to maintain immunity, as well as CT scan - lung examination. Any funds her family had have been spent on her precious treatments and hospitalization. They ask for help."
Can you help us raise the funds needed for Nastya's CT scan, antibiotics and medicines?
