In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"Good evening. My daughter Dasha is 17 years old. She has been disabled since birth. She had a massive stroke during childbirth and is now reaping the consequences. We live with my mother, a 66-year-old pensioner. Dasha's father left us when she was two years old. My Dasha doesn't sit, doesn't walk, doesn't talk, doesn't chew on her own. We grind all her food with a blender. We constantly need diapers, vitamins and medicines, as I am also on a disability due to cancer. If you can help us we will be very grateful."
Dasha is also in need of a wheelchair as all they currently have is a stroller that is awkward to push and is falling apart.
Can you help us purchase a wheelchair, diapers, vitamins and medicines for Dasha?
