Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
Mark is 7 years old who suffers from Epilepsy and Global Developmental Delay. His mother is a stay-at-home parent, and his father is a tricycle driver. Due to the pandemic, there are frequent lockdowns which means very few rides and significantly less income. He used to earn around $6 a day but now he is only earning around $3. They are having a tough time providing Mark with his needs, let alone the family’s needs. Mark’s parents could not afford his medications and he has not been taking it; thus, he suffers from seizures. They are currently living in a house made of bamboo that does not have running water available and only relies on a deep well. Because their income was lowered due to the pandemic, they are trying to survive using some of the backyard plants that they own. They need help from Maya’s hope, especially to get fortified milk and medications as his parents could not afford to buy him food that contains enough calcium needed for his bone health.
The medication he needs to control his seizures is expensive as it costs a month’s worth of his father’s income and his parents are struggling to provide him with the medication as well and other essentials such as diapers, wipes, vitamins, and fortified milk.
Can you help us raise the funds for fortified milk, medicines, vitamins, diapers and more for Mark?
