Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
Baby Kylo is not even a year old and has already overcome so much. He was born with hydrocephalus and a myelomeningocele (a birth defect in which a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly). He required surgery to close the opening in his spine. The surgical wound later became severely infected and Kylo had to have further surgery to remove the dead tissue from his back. He had also had to have two further surgeries - to place a shunt for his hydrocephalus and for his club feet. He is a little fighter!
He is being raised by his mother, his father left the family when he was just days old. They share an apartment with his grandmother who has cancer and is also on dialysis. So finances are tight!
Kylo has been in our program for several months. His mother recently messaged us in distress.
An x-ray showed his right hip was dislocated and his doctor said he needed surgery urgently. Kylo's mother did not know how she was going to pay for his surgery. She already has debt from Kylo's previous hospital stays.
Can you help us raise the funds needed for Kylo's surgery?
