For years, I prayed every single day for God to bless me with a child. Then He answered my prayers and gave me my beautiful son, Mark (9-month-old). He became my entire world. Today, I am praying for another miracle—not for myself, but for my little boy, whose life now depends on a treatment we cannot afford.
Everything began with vomiting and unusual tiredness. I called an ambulance, and we were admitted to the hospital. The doctors reassured me that it wasn't anything serious. A few days later, Mark fell into a deep, prolonged sleep. Once again, I was told there was nothing to worry about. But a mother's heart knew something was terribly wrong. I begged for another medical opinion, and only then was a CT scan performed.
The moment the doctors looked at the scan, everything changed. Their expressions changed. They became silent and visibly alarmed. I kept asking what they had found until they finally told me there was a large mass at the back of my baby's brain.
I remember collapsing into tears. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. I asked countless questions, desperately searching for something—anything—that could save my son. Soon afterward, the chief neurosurgeon came to me and said that Mark needed emergency brain drainage surgery immediately, or he would not survive.
The drain was inserted that same day. The following day, surgeons opened his skull to perform a biopsy. That was the day I almost lost my baby. During surgery, Mark suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and went into cardiac arrest. The doctors prepared me for the worst. They told me they didn't know if he would ever wake up again, and if he did, whether he would ever breathe or swallow on his own.
The next day, his lungs stopped working.
I spent every minute beside his bed on my knees, praying without stopping. I prayed for God not to take away the child I had waited five years to hold in my arms. Somehow, that evening, Mark moved his tiny fingers. Three days later, he began breathing on his own. Then he swallowed a little. My son proved that he is a fighter.
The biopsy brought devastating news. Mark has Stage IV Medulloblastoma, an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer that developed in only three months. Just days before, he had been smiling, laughing, playing, and filling our home with joy. How can a child who seemed so full of life suddenly be fighting terminal cancer? These are questions I ask every day, even though I know there may never be answers.
After reviewing Mark's medical records, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York accepted his case and offered us hope. Their specialists recommended an experimental high-dose treatment, followed by a stem cell transplant. This treatment offers Mark his best chance of survival, but it is incredibly complex and demanding. He will receive intensive therapy and will have to remain in complete isolation inside a sterile room while his immune system recovers.
The estimated cost of this life-saving treatment is $370,000—an amount that is impossible for our family to raise alone.
As a mother, there is nothing more painful than knowing your child's life depends on money you simply do not have. I would give everything I own, every breath I have, to save my son. Today, all I can do is ask for help.
From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to stand with Mark in this fight. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to giving my little boy the chance to grow up, to laugh again, to play again, and to live the life every child deserves.
Please help me save my son.
Every dollar is a drop of hope. Every act of kindness is another chance at life.
Thank you for believing in Mark.
