Inspired by the award winning documentary, Lucha: A Wrestling Tale, LUCHA Wrestling Club is a holistic youth development program providing a pathway out of poverty & into college for underprivileged high school girls via the sport of wrestling. In addition to world class training in the sport of wrestling, Lucha provides academic support, health & wellness education, healthy meals, mentorship, and leadership development, all important ingredients for success in college. Evidence shows that a college degree, our ultimate goal, especially for someone who is the first in their family to attend college, has an outsized positive impact on future earnings, health, and civic engagement. As many of the wrestlers in Lucha will be the first in their family to attend college, their 4 year degree will dramatically increase the chances of someone else in their family going to college and earning a degree, furthering the positive impact exponentially.
