Support Listening Lab’s This Is America Project
We’re raising funds for Listening Lab—and primarily for our next big vision: This Is America Tour—a national tour rooted in listening, story sharing, community care, and bridging across divides to recognize what makes America.
Our first stop is this Juneteenth at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. From there, we’ll travel to cities across the country, creating space for people to reflect on and share their lived experiences of this country—its beauty, its contradictions, and its possibilities.
At each stop, we’ll host a Listening Lab activation: just two chairs, a table, and an open invitation to slow down and connect. We’ll gather stories, center voices that often go unheard, and invite folks into moments of reflection, connection, and witnessing.
This tour will grow into a living, evolving exhibit—layered with the voices and textures of each city. At the end of year one, marking America’s 250th anniversary in July 2026, we’ll host our initial national showcase—a moment to reflect on what we’ve heard, what we’ve learned, and where we go from here. Ultimately, this journey will culminate in a full-length documentary that captures the soul of the tour.
What Is Listening Lab?
Listening Lab was born in the aftermath of the pandemic, in response to a loneliness crisis and a longing for deeper connection. We believe in the power of listening to heal, to build community, and to remind people they’re not alone.
Sometimes it looks like a pop-up table and two chairs in a park. Other times it’s a workshop, a youth training, or a full-on exhibition. But always, it’s about creating spaces for people to be seen, heard, and held with care.
We center untold stories. We bring people together across difference. We train young people as listeners and storytellers. And we host events that remind us that care, joy, and presence are radical tools for transformation.
