My name is Angelea, and I’m a fashion and portrait photographer based in Nashville, Tennessee. As an individual born and thriving with both rare congenital physical and invisible differences, I believe my purpose (as a photographer) is to redefine “disability” through art to evolve the world into a more inclusive space.
The Project
Let Them Stare will begin with two self-published books, one for children, and one for adults. The children's book, "Look at Me, Look What I Can Do," will be photographs of 30 children and adolescents who live with both physical and invisible differences. However, the photos will capture what the child does beyond his or her difference. The goal of this book is for children to start seeing differences at an early age, to show that anything is possible, and for those who live with differences to never feel alone.
"Let Them Stare," will be a fashion-forward coffee table photo book comprised of photographs of 100 adults who live with both physical and invisible differences. The goal of this book is to dynamically and visually bring inclusion to the fashion industry, and for adults who live with differences to feel seen.
