At the West London Buddhist Centre, we have a clear and inspiring vision: to reach more people across West London, both in person and online, by creating a meaningful and welcoming experience for everyone who encounters the Centre. Our founder, Sangharakshita, spoke of beauty as a gateway to wisdom, and that’s exactly what we aim to embody: a Centre that is visible from the street, beautiful, and inviting from the moment someone walks past. We want people to notice the Centre from the moment they busily walk past, feel drawn in, and sense that inside they might find what they’ve been searching for, a place of meaning, community, and transformation.
Right now, most people in West London don’t even know we exist. Hundreds of people walk past the Centre every week, unaware of what lies behind our small side door. This is a real shame, especially in an area of over two million people, many of whom are searching for deeper meaning, connection, and peace in their lives. The very reason we exist is to offer that, but people can’t benefit from what they can’t find.
We took a bold step by hiring a Marketing and Fundraising Manager, and it’s working , attendance is growing and more people are engaging. But to truly thrive, we need to go further: a new website so people can easily find us, a visible entrance so they can see us, and a new treatment room that helps finance the Centre long term. Without these changes, our growth can’t reach its full potential.
