About Korando
The ECD and primary school of the Korando Educational Center currently provides education, food and boarding facilities for over 300 vulnerable children.
New CBC School System
In 2017 the Ministry of Education launched a new school curriculum, the CBC (Competency-based Curriculum). The new curriculum has created a new school structure.
Before it was 8-4-4, meaning 8 years Primary School, 4 years Secondary School and 4 years College education.
The new system is 2-6-3-3-3, meaning 2 years ECD, 6 years Primary, 3 years Junior High, 3 years High School and 3 years College.
The Problem
In 2023, the CBC graduated the first batch of class 6 students into the new Junior High. The Ministry of Education requires the Junior High to be in a separate building, but gave Korando a grace period to transition. Currently Class 1 for Korando's Junior High is still hosted in the Primary School building. However, this must change within this year.
The Solution
Fortunately, the neighboring church has agreed to sell their land and building to Korando. The building needs renovation and eventually will fit 3 classrooms. The total budget for everything is about €40,000.
The great news; an estimated €30,000 has already been fundraised by an American partner NGO (Ripple Effect) to purchase the land and renovate the building.
This means that Korando is about €10,000 short to complete the deal.
This is where we need your help. Please support us to reach our goal and give Korando a Junior High!
