Climate change has caused hunger and poverty affecting women and children. Livelihoods have been weakened resulting in less access to food, nutrition, and clean water. Community Help Initiatives work with the communities to improve life. We seek to address hunger, improve access to health, clean water, and sanitation, improve access to education, and address environmental degradation and climate change causes and their effects. Our emergent strategy is Climate-smart for Food Security Project which is a climate mitigation measure for climate change. The project seeks to improve farmers’ experience through farming of drought resilient high breed crop varieties that mature early. The project objective is to increase crop harvest to improve access to food and nutrition. Community Help Initiatives contribute toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are: SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 13: Climate Action. To effectively contribute to the SDGs, the organization took urgent action to facilitate a rapid response whereby the communities identify challenges of climate change, strategies, and solutions to combat its effects. We are convinced that climate-related projects are pivotal to the attainment of the SDGs. Such initiatives enable the community to develop effective coping strategies for climate change. Through your support, families will have at least 2 meals per day and improved nutrition. To achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero hunger, Community Help Initiatives assisted widows with sorghum seeds through Climate-smart for Food Security Project to improve food access by families.

Community Help Initiatives representative, the community and the widows sharing the best moments, pose for a photo after receiving maize seeds from the organization.
