Subject: Request for Support for U.S. Army Veteran Antonio Lamotta
For years, we have endured the consequences of a false narrative surrounding the events of January 6, 2021—one that has been weaponized by the opposition to brand those who attended the Capitol rally as enemies of the state. This misleading portrayal has caused harm to countless individuals, including many veterans who now face unjust legal battles.
Today, hundreds of veterans remain in prison or continue to fight prolonged legal battles, all in an effort to sustain this false narrative. As political prisoners of war, these service members have had their honorable military service used against them, deepening the injustice they face.
One such individual is U.S. Army Veteran Antonio "Tony" Lamotta, who, due to an overreach in prosecutorial discretion, is being forced to serve a six-month sentence in federal prison for a trespassing violation. His only "crime" was showing support for law enforcement on the day of the attack on our nation’s sovereignty. In fact, Tony’s actions that day were nothing less than heroic. He did not threaten anyone or cause harm to law enforcement. Instead, he focused on protecting those who were in harm’s way.
When Tony saw a fellow citizen—an officer—injured and bleeding, he took immediate action, helping that officer get to safety, even at the risk of his own well-being. In doing so, he showed the highest form of service and honor, consistent with the values he upheld throughout his military career. And yet, for this act of bravery, he now faces a jail sentence, leaving behind his wife and children, just as the holiday season approaches.
We are asking for your assistance to help Tony and his family during this critical time. With his imprisonment, Tony will lose his ability to provide for his family and cover the necessary legal costs to fight this injustice.
Your support is crucial in helping us push back against this ongoing atrocity and seek justice for all veterans impacted by the events of January 6. Tony's case is a starting point, but we know that, together, we can make a difference for him and for the broader veteran community.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Sincerely,
Chaplain Joshua Macias

Julio Bachueo died just days after his release from prison, where he had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He was released due to his terminal condition, but upon his release, he was too weak and sick, leading him directly to the hospital where he passed away.
Similarly, Bart Shivley was released under comparable circumstances and now faces less than a year to live, with his cancer likely linked to his military service. Yet was treatable had he received the care he needed.
