Food for Maine’s Future (FMF) is a group of advocates and activists for small farmers, farm-workers, and their patrons against the corporate food monopoly. Since the early 2000’s FMF has done a variety of work protecting and educating about relocalizing our food system. Through Local Food Sovereignty Ordinances in towns across the state we have worked to support a viable healthy local food economy. Our most recent effort was in support of the effort to pass the Right to Food Amendment to the Maine constitution. Due to our widespread educational efforts and grassroots organizing the Amendment passed with 61% of the votes cast.
But the work is not done. The Big Ag, Big Chem, Big Pharma opponents are already rallying to attempt to weaken this historic Amendment. We need to continue to educate the people of Maine about their right to the food of their choosing. Please join us in this work.
