Japan Natural Disasters & Economic Strain: Recent natural disasters—including the devastating Noto Peninsula Earthquake (能登半島地震) and the major Kumamoto earthquake (JMA Detail Report)—have displaced thousands of civilians and severely damaged basic local infrastructure. Concurrently, severe economic inflation has triggered a critical spike in food insecurity, placing unprecedented pressure on Japanese food banks and relief organizations.
