Thanks for showing The Pruitt Igoe Myth last night. Sometimes I think that STL casts more of a shadow on Iowa than even Chicago--at least where race and racism is concerned. Too many bullshit stories time tested to scare white people into thinking there's nothing wrong with building a big highway to seal off Iowa City's South Side. It would be nice to see IC Planning do more than providing improved housing. To make Southside viable again, improvements in physical connection across US 6 need to be made. Even giving US 6 and Iowa 1 a real name (I suggested the Van Allen Belt and all I can say is the power structure here lacks an appreciation for irony:)
