The rescue of the IOOF building/old Miami County courthouse in downtown Troy has been a true against-all-odds victory. The building - one of Ohio's oldest remaining courthouses and a former IOOF lodge that dominates a block of century-old storefronts in downtown Troy - was snatched from the jaws of demolition multiple times in recent years thanks to the tenacity of its new owner, the Troy Historic Preservation Alliance (THPA), neighboring property owners, and many others. Saving it took a groundswell of grassroots support - more than 330 donors, including many altruistic individuals, businesses and organizations that love our downtown.
With this historic landmark stabilized and no longer threatened by demolition, and with West Main Street reopened, the THPA is preparing the building for its next chapter. We are also making final payments for the stabilization work and continue to accept donations to cover the final 3 percent of our costs (a little over $20,000). Your contribution can help us close this gap, with 100 percent going toward building repairs.
We have simply been awestruck by your support. Thank you. Together, we are doing extraordinary things in downtown Troy and Miami County.
