Mother’s Day is right around the corner—May 9th. As the parent of a rambunctious toddler, and as the Director of the Maker's Place, a nonprofit diaper bank and resource center, I've come to realize something: nobody works as hard as a mother. This Mother’s Day, our little family will do something special to honor the mom in our life.
We’re not the only family with someone to celebrate. Like me, I imagine you’ve got a special mother in your life. And like me, I imagine you care about the wellbeing mothers and families all across central New Jersey. You know that no parent should have to choose between their child’s health and the family's bottom line. Yet for families struggling to make ends meet, diapers, wipes, and formula can be one of the hidden costs of poverty.
This Mother’s Day, I’m asking for your help. You can honor a special mom in your own life, and make a change for a struggling mom in central New Jersey. Join our “In Honor of Mom” fundraising campaign! Make a donation to the Maker's Place, and we’ll send a personalized letter of recognition to you or your honoree, letting them know that essential items like diapers have been donated to a Trenton-area mom in their honor. It’s a Mother’s Day gift that makes a difference—one mom to another.
Please consider what you can give. $30 can buy a month’s supply of diapers, and a $300 donation can keep a child safe, healthy, and dry for up to a year. You can donate right now. Go to makersplace.org/give, or click the big button below. You can also write to us at P.O. Box 54, Trenton NJ 08601.
Your help really does make a difference. Last year, over a thousand mothers contacted our diaper bank, because they were struggling to afford basic essentials for their children. A lack of diapers and other essentials can cause infection and other health problems for infants and toddlers, and can lead to emotional, social, and financial consequences for parents. The moms we work with every day are resilient and resourceful; they inspire me every day. This Mother's Day, let's do something in their honor.
Have a Happy Mother's Day, and thanks for all you do to keep our nonprofit organization strong, as we come alongside families living in poverty, and build abundant community for all God's children.
