Impossible Dreams Can Become Possible

Hi, I'm Leta. I'm thirteen years old. I'm a dancer. I love tap dancing. I have severe dyslexia, and I have autism.

I have had troubles fitting into "traditional" dance studios. Teachers say they care about me, but all they see is my autism. They say my autism defines me. They say my autism means I will never be able to dance.

My mentors say my autism doesn't define me and should never define me. With their help, I have flown around the country and soared high. (Even if I am afraid of heights.)

Following their path, I have started a dance studio for dancers like me who have autism.

Currently, we're renting space from established dance studios. It means we can only have classes when space is avaliable, which limits us to daytime classes.

We found a space, though, that would be perfect! It just needs a little TLC and a bit of a makeover.

The hall is a little long, but there is room for two studios, a smaller space for private tutoring and small preschool classes. There is a break room and a space for an office and a changing room.

Mom and I talk all about it on a special episode of Leta's Tap Styles. (https://youtu.be/_sXTdFSIU9g takes you to the YouTube version. Or listen to it on Spotify, Amazon Podcast, Pocket Cast, Apple Podcasts, or at https://www.buzzsprout.com/2374191/15652991-making-the-impossible-possible-creating-a-dance-space-for-autistic-dancers-in-colorado-springs.mp3?download=true)

Any money we raise above the amount needed will go towards other upgrades to the studio, paying for the utilities, adding a system so parents can watch their kid's class without disturbing the kids, and furniture. If we pay all of that, we will put any extra in the general funding account to cover the expensive of the studio.

Mom and I are working on some Donor Tiers for this Campaign. These are the tiers we have right now. We might add some more stuff to each tier. The gifts probably won't arrive until December. Think of them like a Christmas present from your new family at Autistic Wings Dance Company.

Thanks for donating.

Love,

Leta
