TSBC makes an impact in and from Appalachia by offering access to a community of biblical scholarship for students to fulfill their ministries. The Impact Campaign invites donors to partner with the Akron Extension Site at Tri-State Bible College. Historic connections between northeastern Ohio and southern Ohio are the Ohio Canalway and the migration of West Virginians to Akron during the rubber industry boom. Since 2010, TSBC has offered residential learning opportunities to students in northeastern Ohio through local church partnerships at the Akron Extension Site. Now, both Akron and South Point classes are offered both residentially and live online through our Zoom integration—expanding access and flexibility to biblical higher education.
In 2023, the TSBC Board of Directors commissioned a feasibility study and approved a three year plan to stabilize our Akron Extension Site, renewing our resolve that God called us to NE Ohio to fulfill our mission of offering access to a community of biblical training. We welcomed our first NE Ohio based Board Member, Pastor Chase Jones of The Corners Chapel. We reached our first-year fundraising and tuition goals, and pray that God will continue to stabilize this work in 23-24. Currently, The Chapel in Akron hosts the Akron Extension Site and offers residential classroom space. The Association of Religion Data Archives shows the Christian mission struggling to advance among Summit County's 540,428 residents.
