Hunger Is Taking My Children—Please Don’t Look Away

My name is Ataf, a father living in Gaza. I write these words with a heavy heart, hoping someone, somewhere, will hear us.

I am the only provider for my family. I have seven young children who depend on me for everything, and I am also responsible for caring for my two elderly parents, who are weak and in need of constant support. Every day, I wake up not knowing how I will feed them.

There are days when we have almost nothing to eat. I try to stay strong for my children, but it is painful to watch them ask for food I cannot provide. Some of them are already showing signs of malnutrition. They have become weaker, quieter… and that silence is the hardest thing for a father to تحمل.

Milk, diapers, and even simple bread have become difficult to find or afford. My youngest children need proper nutrition to grow, but I feel helpless when I cannot give them even the basics. My parents also need care, medicine, and food, and I struggle to meet their needs as well.

We are not asking for comfort—only for survival. A small amount of help can mean food on the table, milk for my children, and a little relief from this constant fear.
