National Humor Month - Laughter League Boston

It's National Humor Month!!!

Let's fundraise while having fun!

Laughter League is a national nonprofit organization focused on engaging and empowering through laughter, and National Humor Month is the perfect time for you to donate and support Laughter League.

Laughter League's professional performers create moments of levity and healing in healthcare environments all over the country, empowering patients and emboldening hope.

This month, we’ll be posting a bevy of silly content across our platforms to bring laughter to You, our supporters. We hope to share a glimpse of the transformational power of laughter while fundraising. Help us uplift patients, families and staff in Pediatric Hospitals and Memory Care Facilities, through the art of clowning and the variety arts, have a giggle, and know your tax-deductible donation supports crucial, unique work. Your donations will go towards keeping our artistic and administrative mission going strong, nationwide.

With more donations, our patients win – more resources mean more laughter! Thank you for your support. Help the Boston/Providence team fundraise during Humor Month!

Boston Children’s Hospital

Laughter League duos are present at Boston Children’s Hospital for 6 full shifts, 5 days a week, on all pediatric units, including daily visits to the very busy Emergency Department.

Laughter League is a regular part of the orientation process for new employees at Boston Children’s Hospital and approximately every two weeks, Laughter League facilitates a 45 minute Zoom Orientation Workshop for BCH new hires, at the request of the Human Resources Dept. We take new employees through our Improvisation 101 class where we use theater games and improvisation to share a little about the skills and tactics we use as professional entertainers in the hospital environment. We then illustrate how they can use these simple skills in their own work in the hospital. For example, learning to make eye contact and practice active listening can greatly improve the patient experience.

We value our strong partnership with Boston Children's Hospital!

Laughter League is present at Hasbro Children's Hospital 2 days a week and has continued to increase our involvement in both the Partial Hospital Program and the Aubin Center. Our team at Hasbro has been integrated into these departments, thanks to our strong clown teams and the commitment of the Child Life Department and the Psychology Department. The Partial Hospital Program is a day program serving patients who have both physical and emotional healthcare needs. LL spends 45 minutes each week with one of the three milieus in PHP. We are part of their Skills Building Session and our interventions are carefully crafted to speak to the needs of the group as shared with us by the staff while also maintaining our roles as therapeutic clowns.
