This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in a profound act of hope and solidarity. In the heart of northern Ethiopia, the children and youth of Tigray have borne the staggering costs of war and displacement. Yet, with your help, we can turn the page and empower a generation to rise, learn, and lead.

Why This Matters

The war that began in November 2020 has devastated Tigray’s education system: buildings were destroyed or repurposed for military use; classrooms, desks, textbooks and blackboards were looted, burned or abandoned.
According to reports, more than 1.4 million school-age children in the region are currently out of school.
Enrollment plummeted: one survey found that only 8% of the younger cohort in Tigray completed Grade 12 in 2023—down from 16% seven years earlier.
Infrastructure damage is widespread: In one assessment, 88 % of classrooms, 96 % of desks, 97 % of blackboards, and 85 % of computers in the region were reported damaged or missing.
The magnitude of disruption is immense: one policy brief found that roughly 74.9 % of schools were partially damaged and 19.1 % were completely destroyed.

These are not just numbers. They represent children whose schooling was halted, dreams deferred, and opportunities lost. But they also represent a call to action.
