Children are the most vulnerable and immediate victims of war and displacement. Millions of them live in staggeringly challenging conditions, facing trauma, poverty and exclusion, and often missing out on their right to an education.
Acting For Change International (AFCI) runs a learning centre in Zaatari village, situated in the North of Jordan, close to the Syrian border, which provides refugee children with vital literacy skills, enabling them to build better futures for themselves. By providing a safe and supporting environment, the centre also helps reduce the likelihood of children falling prey to exploitation, including child labour and child marriage, both coping mechanisms used in the face of financial desperation.
As international support dries up, AFCI is in dire need of funding to keep its doors open. All proceeds of the fundraising will go to making essential repairs, buying new furniture, desks, chairs, heaters for the winter, as well as new IT equipment to support the launch of a new computing class.
There is no small amount, and EBRD will be matching donations, doubling your impact!
