Hi, I almost forgot to let y'all know but I finished handing out all of the bags a few days ago. I met some really nice people but the two people that stuck out the most were named Elena and Jonathon. I met them on two separate occasions and they were both incredibly grateful. Elena was out on the corner of a gas station with her two children, one was in elementary school and the other in middle school. When I handed them the bags, they immediately started eating the snacks, drinking the water, and reading the notes of encouragement. When I met Jonathon, he was sitting outside a 7/11 and looked very tired. I asked if he was hungry and he immediately said yes. When I handed him the bag the first thing he said was "Are you sure there's nothing too valuable in here that you don't want to give away?" and I replied, "It's all yours". In retrospect, I wish I had answered that he deserved valuable items. I just thought this was an interesting interaction. Another thing I noticed that gave me an idea for future bags was that Daniel, a man I met at the exit of a highway, was coloring in an adult coloring book. He was very quiet but focused on the coloring book. This made me think to include more fun things along with the necessities because mental health and enjoying the small things are very important. If you have any ideas about what fun activities or materials to include, please let me know.
Hi y'all! Just wanted to update you all. I have passed out 4 bags so far but only got the chance to talk to 2 people. Their names were Brittany and Daniel (I met them seperately), and they were very nice and lovely people. I enjoyed chatting with them!
Hello wonderful people! I just bought the resources for ten packages and they will come in tomorrow! The packages will include socks, wet wipes, toothbrushes with toothpaste, nutrigrain bars, crackers, and water bottles in addition to an uplifting note! I will update y'all periodically on how many have been passed out and if any conversations stuck out to me. Thank you again for your support!
