At Norton Middle School, we believe that strong communication skills are the foundation for lifelong success. The Speech and Language Department is seeking funding to provide students with hands-on materials that help them grow not just as learners, but as confident, connected individuals.
These resources will empower students to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and language comprehension — the very skills that support success across all academic subjects. Through engaging, targeted activities, students will practice higher-level language skills such as inferencing, understanding abstract ideas, and applying reasoning to real-world challenges.
Equally important, these materials will help our students develop essential social communication abilities — learning how to take perspectives, collaborate effectively, compromise, and build meaningful conversations. These are the skills that foster empathy, friendship, and a sense of belonging both in school and beyond.
By funding this initiative, you are helping our students find their voice — literally and figuratively. Together, we can give them the tools to express themselves with confidence, connect with others, and thrive in the classroom, the community, and the world.
