Geek Wellness Education provides mental health information and resources to the sci-fi and superhero fan communities. We use the genres and characters we love to reach people who may need help through their struggle.
At our December 10th, 2022 fundraiser comic convention, Heroes Assemble, we will have a Life Day tree to honor our friends and family who have struggled with or ended their lives due to mental health struggles. In Star Wars, Life Day started as a Wookie tradition that celebrates family, joy and harmony, but has since been adopted by people of many planets as a reminder of compassion.
Donate $5 to our fundraising campaign in your own name, or the name of someone you are honoring, on our Life Day tree! 100% of the funds raised will go towards our mental health initiatives!
Heroes Assemble will also feature holiday pictures with The Santalorian and the Frozen Ice Queen, a Disney sing-along and children's book reading, fun STEM lessons from Ghostbusters, VA (we're making Slime with kids!), dozens of vendors selling geeky holiday gifts, a cosplay fashion show, celebrity appearances from Disney, Dragonball, Pokemon and Power Rangers...and outside on our patio (weather permitting) Miss Teen VA USA Hannah Grau with her Chalk About Positivity sidewalk chalk drawing, an Avengers bounce house and obstacle course, Big Brothers Big SIsters, GI Joe cosplayers and more!
