About Meals on Us:
Meals on Us PDX started as a small community kitchen at the beginning of the pandemic. Over the last 2 years, the community kitchen has grown into a full resource distribution hub and meal center for anybody suffering from food insecurity. Meals are crafted with care by seasoned chefs from gleaned food waste and community donations, and then distributed to hungry folks, no questions asked. Over 4000 meals per week come out of our small hub in Northeast Portland!
Meals + Supplies:
Over 75% of the prepared meals that come out of Meals on Us are directly delivered to various shelters all over the Portland Metro area. Additionally, we offer meals and supplies to homeless people living on the streets through our distribution center. We regularly distribute tarps, hygiene kits, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, wound care kits, harm reduction kits, and menstruation kits for those in need along with a fresh, hot meal and a cold drink.
Community Involvement:
In addition to providing meals for homeless people, we try to support our others in our community with food as well. Meals on Us has launched a Trans Meal Train program which helps folks recovering from gender affirming surgery with meals while they heal. We also make about 500 meals every week that go into Free Fridges located in various parts of Portland!
