The Dogon people are known for their rich culture and extraordinary resilience in the face of hardship. Yet, every day, women and children in Dogon Country are grappling with extreme poverty, the threat of extremist violence, and the devastating effects of climate change.
Our work provides critical support: We offer education to hundreds of students—their only hope for a brighter future after the collapse of the tourism-based economy due to ongoing conflict. We distribute food and blankets to displaced families, and provide financial credits to widows so they can start small businesses. We’re also working hand-in-hand with the community to restore the environment, transforming arid land into fertile, thriving food forests. This initiative has the potential to bring peace and security to the region.
Empowering girls through education and providing women with financial independence are key to breaking the cycle of gender-based violence, including practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.
If we achieve our goals, our work will no longer be needed in five years. But we are fully reliant on donations to make this vision a reality (until we are able to fully incorporate as a 501[c][3] nonprofit and utilize other fundraising methods), and we need your support to get there.
