Millions of children are neurodiverse— experiencing the world in beautifully unique, but often overwhelming ways. Yet, most public spaces aren’t built with their sensory needs in mind. This leaves many children feeling overstimulated, isolated, or misunderstood. Their families, too, often feel alone, searching for support and understanding.
In Connecticut, there is currently no dedicated space where neurodiverse children and their families can gather, play, and thrive together. We’re on a mission to change that.
Our solution is the Sensory Play Center. Imagine a vibrant, safe, and expertly designed space where children can freely explore, self-regulate, and grow. Our sensory gym will be equipped with specialized equipment such as climbing walls, swings, crash pads, ball pits, and calming corners – all designed to provide the sensory input neurodiverse children crave and need for healthy development.
Beyond Play: A Community Hub: This gym isn't just for kids; it's also a sanctuary for families. Parents can actively engage with their children in our sensory gym or observe them play and explore while connecting with other parents in flexible seating areas. We envision support groups, workshops, and informal gatherings that foster a strong, resilient community where children and adults can offer support and build lasting friendships with others who truly understand their journey.
Why We Need Your Help: Creating a space like this takes more than passion—it takes a community. We’re raising $200,000 to secure a location, purchase specialized equipment, and build a space that truly meets the needs of neurodiverse children and their families.
Your donation will help us:
- Renovate and outfit a sensory-safe facility
- Purchase sensory gym equipment
- Offer free or low-cost access to families in need
