This campaign is part of a personal initiative: Fredo is riding a bicycle from Switzerland to Ukraine to raise awareness about access to education during the war and to raise funds to support it.
His goal is to raise $5,000 as part of a larger fundraiser for a Ukrainian nonprofit, UA Brokers Without Borders, which works to restore social infrastructure in frontline regions.
Challenge
In Ukraine, schools and kindergartens can only operate offline if they have a shelter.
No shelter — no in-person learning. But even when shelters exist, they are often:
- too small to fit all students
- only partially repaired
- not suitable for long stays, especially for younger children and children with special educational needs
Because of this, children study in shifts or remain fully online.
What will be done
The funds will support:
- expanding shelter space in two educational institutions in the frontline city of Mykolaiv
- basic improvements and equipment
- creating conditions where children can stay safe during air raids without interrupting learning
How funds will be used
All funds raised will be transferred to UA Brokers Without Borders and used to implement this project. The organization has already completed similar work in Mykolaiv, including shelters in schools and kindergartens that are now used during air raids.
