We have an urgent need for help to save our partner dog rescue and shelter in Venezuela.
Fundación Jeniree Rodriguez Rescata is currently home to 118 dogs, with 100+ more in active foster homes and medical boarding. Our partner, Jeniree, has dedicated her life to saving and rehabilitating medically dire street dogs, and those who need rescue from neglect or abuse situations. A vast majority of the dogs currently at the shelter are permanent residents due to their ongoing medical needs and the lack of adoptions for adult dogs in Venezuela.
As you can imagine, the cost to feed, house and care for so many animals is immense, especially when they need critical care and long-term medical support. Food alone costs a minimum of $2,100 per month.
The past year has been extremely difficult with the current political and economic climate in Venezuela. Jeniree now finds herself in crisis, having acquired large back debts with the local veterinary and surgical clinics, as well as multiple food suppliers. She also has not been able to keep up with the daily operational expenses at the shelter.
Without the ability to pay the back debts or the current needs at the shelter, Jeniree is faced with making the decision to close her doors permanently. This would be devastating to the dogs already under her care, to the dogs currently awaiting rescue, and to the local community who relies on Jeniree and her team for support.
We are asking for help to save Jeniree's shelter. We cannot let 118 dogs lose their home, and 100+ more lose their lifeline. We must pay off the back debts and secure a small safety net to keep the shelter in operation.
