Calvin was pulled from a river by kind locals who had very little, but still chose to help.
When we collected him, we believed he was an elderly blind stray reaching the end of his life. But after a full veterinary assessment, we discovered something completely different.
Calvin is less than two years old.
He's blind from cataracts in both eyes, but that's only part of his story. Blood tests showed anaemia and chronic inflammation, and X-rays revealed an enlarged heart.
He's now undergoing further cardiac testing and may need lifelong medication.
Despite everything, Calvin is bright, eating well, and still has that spark that reminds us he's got plenty of life left to live.
This rescue became far more complicated than any of us expected, but we're committed to giving Calvin the chance he deserves. Whether that means returning him to the family who first saved him with ongoing medical support, reuniting him with his owners if they're found, or finding the right special needs home, we'll make sure his future is built around what is best for him.
If you'd like to help, we're raising funds for Calvin's veterinary care, heart diagnostics and ongoing medication.
Every donation helps give this young boy the chance to enjoy the life he nearly lost. ❤️🐾
