Uganda Martyrs Catholic Chapel, is a small community church that stands as a beacon of faith and community in Arua Academy Cell, located about 7 kilometers from the bustling heart of Arua City in Northern Uganda, in Eastern Africa.
Born out of the necessity to bridge the geographic gap separating the local community from distant churches, this small but vibrant church serves as a spiritual haven for its members.
Recognizing the need for regular religious activities for all age groups within the community, the residents took the courageous step of establishing their own church and a community centre.
This decision not only relieved them from the burden of long-distance travel but also ensures active participation in religious services and community events.
The primary objective is to foster spiritual growth, provide a place of worship, and cultivate a strong sense of unity and belonging among the local believers.
Every Sunday and on designated days, the faithful gather at the chapel for Mass, the central act of worship. Beyond religious ceremonies, the chapel serves as a vital hub for community engagement and fellowship.
Post-mass gatherings provide opportunities for socializing and participating in various events, including educational sessions on financial literacy, social awareness, and other developmental initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for all members.
With average income levels so low, where the median after-tax salary is $132, according to a recent living cost report (https://livingcost.org/cost/uganda/arua), it will take years for this community to realize their dream of a decent place of prayer, worship and fellowship.
That is why we are appealing to you on behalf of the fundraising committee and the entire church to accelerate this process with what ever contribution you can make to support God's work and support an underprivileged community in Africa.
Here are pictures of the artists impression of the completed church and the progress the community has so far made towards the construction of the new church building.
We shall regularly update you on the progress of the construction project through videos, statements and photographs so you can tract the impact of your generous donations.
May the Almighty God richly bless you and increase you as you support this project!
