This is about more than soccer, more than a field. This field represents a space where kids learn invaluable life lessons, are healthier physically, mentally, and emotionally, and grow up into responsible citizens.
Capital Futbol Club is continuing the development of its complex and is working with partners to develop Pioneer Sports Park, the home of Capital FC's programs and a benefit to the entire community. The plans include:
- Three full-size, lighted turf fields
- Parking lot improvements + other amenities
- Pioneer Commons - a sports-fueled community center housing community-related programming, permanent restrooms, and meeting space
Capital FC intends to break ground on the first portion of the project in late summer/early fall of 2021. The fields will cost $2MM to install, and the total project cost including amenities and the building is $5MM.

This field is an investment into the future of our community. Research shows that active kids do better in life. They are 1/10 as likely to be obese, have up to 40% higher test scores, are 15% more likely to go to college, and earn 7-8% annually as adults.

On top of all the benefits to kids, the complex will increase the economic impact to businesses in Salem, with $12MM in direct spending annually and 25,000 non-local visitors per year. This equates to a $150MM 10 year cumulative direct spend, not to mention the ancillary development and job creation to related activities from the complex.

ED DAVISON FIELD
Thanks to the generosity of the Davison Family, the fields will be named after Ed Davison. Davison's mission lives on every day with the activities of CFC. As a pioneer of youth soccer in Salem, Davison formed the Sprague Sabres, one of the first youth soccer clubs in Salem. The club then became one of the four founding members of Salem United, which now is Capital Futbol Club.
Ed's legacy of teaching life lessons through sport, creating opportunities for low income kids to participate, and using sport as a way to change the trajectory of kids' lives will be furthered as a result of the campaign to build these fields.
Would you consider joining us as we raise the funds to make this invaluable investment into the kids and families through sport?
