At Nakigoza C/U Primary School, a church-founded school in rural Luwero, Maanyi Community Development Centre (MCDC) is helping transform school land into a productive garden where children can grow food, learn sustainable agriculture and take part in environmental activities through the Eco Club.
We have already started.
This project has not been built by one organisation alone.
Tools With A Mission (TWAM) has provided essential gardening tools. Other partners, including Care For Refugees and the SeedMoney Challenge, together with individual well-wishers, have helped provide seeds and support garden activities.
Teachers and pupils have also played an important role in keeping the project going.
But one major challenge threatens the garden's progress:
💧 WATER
During the rainy season, the garden can thrive. During long dry periods, keeping crops alive becomes difficult.
We are therefore raising $2500Â to strengthen the garden's water resilience through water harvesting and storage, water-saving practices, seeds and seedlings, soil improvement, mulching, garden maintenance and continued Eco Club activities.
Our goal is simple:
We don't want a garden that only survives when it rains. We want to help build a garden that can keep growing when the rain stops.
Your support can help us:
âž– Harvest and store water
 Grow nutritious crops
âž– Improve soil and conserve moisture
âž– Maintain the garden using tools already provided
âž– Give children practical agricultural and environmental skills
