Our flagship kitchen & campus at Haw Creek Commons in East Asheville will open in early 2026 — with your help we'll be able to:
- Triple farm sourcing and meal production capacity
- Upgrade kitchen infrastructure and equipment for efficiency and safety
- Create a dedicated volunteer prep space
- Establish a visible, long-term home base for Equal Plates Project
- Continue to deepen nourishment among seniors, low income families and communities facing food insecurity
Why Now:
Born out of the pandemic and propelled by Hurricane Helene, Equal Plates has always grown in response to community need.
In WNC, demand for meals has surged as state-funded programs end and new cuts to SNAP loom.
Local resilience — neighbors feeding neighbors — has never been more vital.
The Impact of Your Gift on Local Food & Community:
$250 – Nourish the Community
Support the very first meals cooked and donated from our new kitchen
$500 – Fuel Volunteer Power
Outfit the prep space with stainless steel tables so volunteers can process thousands of pounds of local ingredients
$1,000 – Renovate the Kitchen
Support upgrades that will triple our weekly meal production capacity
$2,500 – Build Cold Storage
Fund refrigeration to expand purchases of fresh food from local farms
$5,000 – Set the Table
Sustain and grow the momentum of sharing local, nutrient-dense meals that measurably improve health and wellbeing among vulnerable neighbors
Together, we’re proving that a local food system can nourish everyone.
