Support women who are protecting our planet.

To celebrate our birthday we're asking our community to support women who are creating game-changing solutions to the environmental crisis.

Gender equity and diverse leadership are essential to innovation and success at every level of the environmental movement—from the field to the boardroom. Over the last two years, Planet Women has launched more than 20 on-the-ground projects with 29 nonprofit partners in Africa, the Andes-Amazon, and the U.S. Desert Southwest. All of these projects make progress toward increased women’s leadership and gender equity; improved forest, water and biodiversity health; and reduced carbon emissions.

Here are a few successes that donors like you made possible this year:

We launched a new center for gender equity and the environment in Africa! This center will offer gender mainstreaming and women’s leadership trainings to local nonprofits working toward restoring 100 million hectares of land in Africa.

We funded community-responsive services for people living at the edge of nature preserves in rural Colombia, including environmental education, career support and family planning.

We kicked off two programs designed to build a new paradigm of environmental leadership. The 100 Women Pathway aims to double the number of diverse women in c-suite roles at U.S.-based environmental nonprofits in five years. And the Regenerative Leadership Project is a learning journey to help environmental activists dismantle systemic oppression in their professional work and personal life.

We invested in projects in the Colorado River Basin that increase access to clean drinking water and improve sustainable water management, as well as resource women leaders who are combining their Indigenous knowledge and empirical science to guide the basin toward a healthier future.
