Clean Water for Endao, Kenya
Every morning in Endao, children wake up before dawn.
Not to go to school.
Not to play.
But to walk.
Miles of hot, cracked earth under a blazing Kenyan sun, carrying heavy yellow jerrycans to collect water that is brown, muddy, and making them sick.
Boys and girls alike. Missing school. Missing childhood. Just walking.
It doesn't have to be this way.
Endao is a community of 12,000 people across 12 villages in the semi-arid Rift Valley of Kenya. Today only 3 boreholes serve the entire community. Families too far away drink from muddy ponds infected with cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and bilharzia.
