Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, rescues across the country experience what we quietly call senior dumping season.
Families surrender or abandon their older pets to make room for holiday puppies and kittens… or because holiday travel makes care “inconvenient.”
Shelters fill. Senior animals shut down.
And rescues like ours do everything we can to say yes before it’s too late.
This past week alone, we’ve taken in five seniors, with a sixth and seventh on stray hold waiting for us to come for them.
Each one walks through our doors with the same soft, tired look…
a mixture of confusion, hope, and a silent question:
“Am I still worth saving?”
