GAMA, the Gabriola Assembly of Musical Artists, is a collective made by artists of Gabriola for Gabriolans and is supported by the funding of donors, sponsors and event attendees. We are an arts and cultural group dedicated to serving the vibrant community of Gabriola Island. GAMA is responsible for the famous Brickyard Beach music program on Wednesdays in the summer, the Gabriola Unplugged series, a bunch of local and touring concerts, and other open mic programs. By partnering together, we can create and solidify cultural initiatives and programs that will enrich our community and benefit everyone involved. GAMA was formed in 2022 to bring musical and arts-based activities to our community. Our mission is to provide profound and positive experiences to all artists and participants involved in our programs through the power of art and music. We achieve this by hosting various high-quality arts-based events and programs across Gabriola and British Columbia.

The funds we raise through this campaign go towards gear, audio and lighting equipment, posters and ads, materials, decoration, stage building, venue rentals, services, food and beverage (like potluck offerings), and hiring artists and performers at gigs (like the Gabriola Unplugged or Local Concerts series)
GAMA Events include:

Gabriola Unplugged - 6 events so far (runs every 1-2 months)
A variety-music program where we invite off-island artists from around BC to perform on stage alongside local musicians in an intimate acoustic-type setting.

Brickyard Beach - 30 weekly events so far (runs from May to September, 2 years operating, 3rd summer coming up)
Brickyard Beach is our most popular event, seeing between 150-250 attendees and over 15 artists/bands each week during the summer at our beautiful mini-festival, with a custom-built stage, solar-powered sound system, a massive potluck, a multi-coloured light show, and amazing music that brings talent from across the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. We expect an even larger season this summer of 2024.

GAMA Local Concerts - Over 12 live concerts so far (runs throughout the year)
GAMA has a large network of musicians we work with across Gabriola and BC, and organize show-focused gigs for them to perform at different venues and spaces on Gabriola Island.

GAMA Touring Shows - 11 events so far (runs throughout the year)
Part of GAMA’s objectives is to spread Gabriola's talent to different islands and around BC. As such, we take our gear, the crew, and fellow Gabriola musicians and set up musical events off-island, showcasing and exporting Gabriola talent around the province. We have set up events on Mayne Island, Salt Spring Island, Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver, Mission, Kootenays, and other communities.

Gabriola Golf Club Open Mic (no longer running) - 2022 - 2023 Over 45 past events

The Golf Club Open Mic was our introductory program, where we provided opportunities for artists of all calibres to perform on a fun stage in front of broad audiences. These shows ranged in traffic from 60 - 120 attendees and around 12 different artists/bands each week.
