Restoration to ex child soldiers
Still today in Africa children are recruited to join the army through means of kinapping and manipulation. Children, who are victims of war, may choose to enlist themselves for motives such as revenge or hope for a better future. These children are forced to do horrendous things such as to kill and rape civilians. While some of them manage to escape, the trauma remains and with no education these ex child soldiers are among the most vulnerable in the society.
Blooming Desert Africa is a Christian organization working in Uganda that was founded in 2020 to bring restoration and transformation to the young adults that were robbed of their childhoods. Blooming Desert is founded on Isaiah 35 from the Bible where it talks about the streams in the desert; we are believing that the desolation of the lives of these boys will end and God will make beautiful things grow instead. 🌿
Currently, we are working with 9 boys who have started their healing journeys. It has been extremely humbling and amazing to see how God has transformed these boys and we are so proud of how far they have come in just a few years.
All of them have dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ, been baptized and are now following Him!
This year, in 2024, we will be adding 6 boys into our program making it a total of 15 boys!
We are very excited, however we need your help!
Currently we don’t have enough monthly support so we started this fundraiser to collect what we need this year.
With your financial support we will offer the boys:
- basic secondary or vocational education
- a course where they will learn how to make liquid and bar soap to raise funds for their soccer program
- homes (we are renting houses) with beds and everything else necessary in them
- food (they get three meals per day)
- health care
And some of them have their own families; wives and children, so we will be taking care of them as well.
