From Waste to Work: Empowering Youth and Protecting Our Environment in Kinshasa.
Rescue Democracy International (RDI) works to strengthen democratic values, empower vulnerable communities, and create pathways out of poverty across Africa. Today, we are launching a critical project in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where youth unemployment reaches nearly 80% and plastic waste threatens both the environment and public health.
Through our initiative “From Waste to Work”, RDI and our local partner COSAWOH will equip 34 groups of young entrepreneurs with start-up kits, training, and mentoring to transform discarded plastic into ecological building blocks. This project will not only reduce pollution but also create sustainable jobs, stimulate local agriculture and subsistence, and bring hope to a generation at risk of being left behind.
Our goal is to raise $155,000 in 6 months to:
1.Provide start-up kits and safety equipment
2.Deliver training and mentorship for eco-entrepreneurs
3.Support marketing, visibility, and sales channels
4.Launch community awareness campaigns
5.Cover essential logistics and monitoring
Your support means more than a donation. It means jobs for young people, cleaner streets and rivers, and stronger communities that can thrive with dignity and independence.
Together, we can turn waste into opportunity and shape a greener, fairer future.
Please donate today and share this campaign with your network.
Every contribution brings us closer to empowering youth and protecting the environment in Kinshasa.
