Friends of Veronica Shriver - NTPS District #1

I’m Veronica Shriver, and I'm asking for your vote to represent YOU on the North Thurston

school board.

I'm a long time Lacey resident, wife, and mother of two children. A daughter of a WWII vet and

Mexican immigrant.

Since 2016, the district has seen dismal educational outcomes. Despite rising property taxes,

student test scores have declined. Over 50% of district students fail to meet state standards in

English, Math, and Science, despite the district allocating $14,857 per child in the 2021-2022

academic year. This excessive expenditure has not yielded significant improvement, prompting

the question: what is the leadership's plan to address these challenges?  

If you are concerned by these startling statistics, like I am, then consider voting for me for

change. I will question the numbers, hold those accountable from the top-down, and investigate

where our money is going to offer solutions based on data. It will take someone new to offer a

fresh perspective and new way forward.

I support competitive compensation for teachers and staff, equitable class sizes, and the

promotion of career and technical training as an alternative for students not pursuing higher

education after graduation.
